Tampa Area Safety Council FAQ's

Tampa Area Safety Council's address and phone number is listed on your webpage. How can I know for sure if it is an approved driver training school in Florida?
Even though we provide a list of behind-the-wheel training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is licensed by the Florida DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact Tampa Area Safety Council directly or check with the Florida DMV to find out for sure if Tampa Area Safety Council is a licensed school.
Do I have to take a driver training course? Can't my parents just give me my behind-the-wheel training?
There are some states that do permit parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required behind-the-wheel training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for enrolling in a professionally-taught driver training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding hands-on driving instruction.
I can't operate a manual-shift. Will Tampa Area Safety Council allow me to complete my behind-the-wheel training on an automatic-shift vehicle?
We recommend that you contact Tampa Area Safety Council and ask them if you can do your behind-the-wheel training using a vehicle that has an automatic shift before signing up to take their driver training course.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will Tampa Area Safety Council be able to teach me how to drive safely on bumpy terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a rural area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like Tampa Area Safety Council will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and other types of bumpy terrain.  You may wish to contact Tampa Area Safety Council to find out exactly what their behind-the-wheel training course includes before signing up to take their training course.
Now that I'm 14, will Florida allow me to get an instruction permit to drive?
Not likely.  Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for a learner's permit.  We recommend that your contact the Florida DMV office or a Florida-approved driving school such as Tampa Area Safety Council to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in Florida.
I live in Tampa Florida. Does the law say I have to enroll in both a drivers education classroom or online course and a behind-the-wheel training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do mandate that new, teen-aged drivers register for both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
