Amigo Driving School FAQ's

Since Amigo Driving School appears on your website, does this mean they are approved by the Illinois DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
The list of driving schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-certified by the Illinois DMV.  You may want to call Amigo Driving School directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
Do you know if I can complete my driver training with my mother or father instead of attending a behind-the-wheel training course like the ones offered by Amigo Driving School?
Some states allow teen-agers to complete their driver training with their parents instead of attending a professional driving school.  We recommend that you contact the Illinois DMV or Amigo Driving School directly to find out if Illinois allows parent-taught behind-the-wheel training.
Do I need to tell Amigo Driving School that I need to train with an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know how to drive a manual-shift automobile.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a stick-shift OR and automatic-shift vehicle!  We recommend that you ask Amigo Driving School if you can complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle before you enroll in their driver training course.
Since I live way out in a remote location where driving on unpaved roads and bumpy terrain is the norm, will Amigo Driving School be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a rural area, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as Amigo Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and rugged terrain.  We recommend that you contact Amigo Driving School directly to find out exactly what they offer.
Are 14-year-olds permitted to obtain a learner's permit in Illinois?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the youngest age for which to hold a learner's permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving instruction company like Amigo Driving School to find out what the minimum age for driving is in Illinois.
Do I have to complete a Chicago Illinois drivers education classroom course or online course before enrolling in one of Amigo Driving School's driver training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a driver training course plus either a drivers education classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online defensive driving course.  You may want to ask Amigo Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
I am looking to register for a Chicago Illinois behind-the-wheel training course. Can Amigo Driving School assist me with this?
Yes.  Drivers education courses are available in Chicago Illinois through Amigo Driving School.  Please contact Amigo Driving School directly with questions regarding their schedule of classes and registration information.
What are the prerequisites in Chicago Illinois for getting a drivers license?
It depends on your state's laws, however in many states, teen-agers must complete both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  Amigo Driving School may offer an approved behind-the-wheel training course which you could take.  Please contact Amigo Driving School for information regarding their available classes and how to go about registering for them.
Is it necessary for me to sign up for a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get my first Illinois driver's license?
