Galaxy Driving School FAQ's

Galaxy Driving School's contact information is listed on your webpage. How can I find out if it is an approved driver training school in Illinois?
Even though we provide a list of driver training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is licensed by the Illinois DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact Galaxy Driving School directly or check with the Illinois DMV to find out for sure if Galaxy Driving School is a licensed school.
Could I just have my mother or father teach me how to drive instead of paying money to take a professional driver training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which allow you to do your hands-on driver training with a parent or guardian instead of enrolling in a professional driving school.  However many states require that new drivers take a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you check with your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
What if I don't know how to operate a vehicle with a stick-shift? Does Galaxy Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll allow me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a stick-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a manual or an automatic, you probably should call Galaxy Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your enrolling in their driver training course.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads everywhere. Will Galaxy Driving School teach me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain community, chances are that a local driving instruction institute like Galaxy Driving School will include driving lessons specifically tailored to that terrain.
I'm turning 14 in a few months. Can I get a learner's permit to drive in Illinois after my 14th birthday?
Most likely, no.  Most states (though not all) have laws which require that you be at least 15 or 15 1/2 before to be eligible to apply for an instruction permit.  Nevertheless, you may wish to contact the Illinois DMV office or a Illinois-certified driving school such as Galaxy Driving School to find out for certain what the minimum driving age is in your local area.
Is taking a drivers education course in a classroom or online sufficient in Chicago Illinois or do I also have to successfully complete a driver training class with a professional driving instructor?
It depends on what the Illinois's laws require, but many states do mandate that new, young drivers to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor as well as a drivers education classroom or online course.
I'm required to take a defensive driving course in Chicago Illinois. Do you know if Galaxy Driving School offers driver training classes in Chicago Illinois?
Yes, Galaxy Driving School does offer defensive driving courses in Chicago Illinois.  For more information about their class schedule and how/when to enroll in one of their driver training courses, please contact Galaxy Driving School directly.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a Illinois driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to enroll in both a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a safe driving classroom or online course.  You may wish to contact the Illinois DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to fulfill in order to obtain your first driver's license.
Is it necessary for me to take a driver training course in order to get my first Illinois driver's license?
Yes, it is.  All teen-aged drivers applying for their first driver's license in Illinois must complete a state-approved driver training course.
Is it possible to enroll in a Illinois-certified behind-the-wheel training course before I obtain my Illinois instruction permit?
It depends on what the specific laws are in Illinois, however most states require first-time drivers to receive an learners permit before registering for a behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend you contact a driving school such as Galaxy Driving School to obtain more information.
