Pronto Driving School FAQ's

Is Pronto Driving School licensed by the Illinois DMV to offer driver training courses?
Although we include Pronto Driving School in our directory of driving schools for Chicago Illinois, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not Pronto Driving School is certified by the Illinois DMV.  You should contact Pronto Driving School directly and ask them if you are thinking about registering for their Chicago Illinois behind-the-wheel training class.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving supervisor in Illinois, so taking a Chicago driving school course like the one Pronto Driving School offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the Illinois DMV or a licensed driver training school like Pronto Driving School and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
Do I need to tell Pronto Driving School that I need to train with an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know how to operate a stick-shift vehicle.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a manual-shift OR and automatic-shift car!  We recommend that you ask Pronto Driving School if you can complete your driver training using an automatic-shift car before you register for their driver training course.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads everywhere. Will Pronto Driving School teach me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain area, chances are that a local driving school like Pronto Driving School will include behind-the-wheel driver training specifically tailored to that terrain.
If I'm 14, can I get a driver's permit to drive in Illinois?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit.  We recommend that you contact the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Pronto Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Illinois.
Do I have to take both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course in Chicago Illinois to get my Illinois driver's license?
The laws vary depending on which state you live in, but most states do require that pre-licensed drivers register for a defensive driving classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  You may want to call a driving instruction company like Pronto Driving School and find out if they offer either (or both) of these programs.
Does Pronto Driving School provide a hands-on driver training course like the one that is required by the State of Illinois? I need to enroll in one in order to obtain my driver license.
Pronto Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses which are approved by the Illinois DMV.  You may want to contact Pronto Driving School directly for more information about their courses and how to go about signing up for one.
What type of driver ed do I need before Illinois will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now require all new, young drivers to enroll in a drivers education classroom or online course as well as a driver training course.  Pronto Driving School may be able to help you fulfill the driver training requirement in Illinois.  Please contact either Pronto Driving School or the Illinois DMV for more information.
Am I obligated to take a Chicago Illinois behind-the-wheel training course?
All drivers in Illinois must take a driver training course.  You should contact Pronto Driving School to learn more about the courses they offer.
Is it all right if I sign up with a behind-the-wheel training school like Pronto Driving School prior to my obtaining my learner's permit?
In most states, you are required to have already received your learner's permit before you sign up to take your behind-the-wheel training course like the one offered by Pronto Driving School.  We suggest you contact either Pronto Driving School to find out more information.
