Sharp's Driving School FAQ's

How do I know if Sharp's Driving School is certified by Iowa's DMV to offer driver training courses?
While we do include Sharp's Driving School's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether Sharp's Driving School is licensed by the State of Iowa.  We recommend that you either contact Sharp's Driving School directly or possibly the Iowa DMV to find out if Sharp's Driving School is a certified driver training school.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving supervisor in Iowa, so taking a Eldridge driving school course like the one Sharp's Driving School offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the Iowa DMV or a licensed driver training school like Sharp's Driving School and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
Do you know if Sharp's Driving School will let me take my driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a manual-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a stick OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Sharp's Driving School and see if they can accommodate you before registering for their behind-the-wheel training course.
Since I live way out in a rural area where driving on unpaved roads and bumpy terrain is the norm, will Sharp's Driving School be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in the country, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as Sharp's Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and rugged terrain.  We recommend that you contact Sharp's Driving School directly to find out exactly what they offer.
If I'm 14, can I get a driver's permit to drive in Iowa?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get a learner's permit.  We recommend that you contact the Iowa Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Sharp's Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Iowa.
Will I be required to complete both a drivers education classroom or online course and a behind-the-wheel training course in Eldridge Iowa?
It depends on which state you live in, but many states now require new teen-aged drivers to enroll in both a drivers education course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.
Iowa's DMV has told me that I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course. Do you know if Sharp's Driving School offers this course or not?
Sharp's Driving School does offer the driver training course that Iowa requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses Sharp's Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact Sharp's Driving School directly.
I live in Eldridge Iowa. What requirements must I meet to be able to get my first Iowa driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of Iowa, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a safe driving classroom course and a driver training course.  Sharp's Driving School may offer courses which would fulfill the driver training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
What does the law in Iowa say about driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do.  Iowa law states that new drivers enroll in an approved driver training course as a prerequisite to obtaining their first driver's license.
Do I have to receive my instruction permit in Iowa before I am allowed to register for a driver training course like the one Sharp's Driving School gives its students?
