Arrive Alive Driving School FAQ's

Can you tell me if Arrive Alive Driving School is a certified driver training school in Maryland?
Although Arrive Alive Driving School is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently certified to teach driver training courses in Maryland.  We recommend either calling Arrive Alive Driving School directly or the Maryland DMV to find out whether or not Arrive Alive Driving School offers hands-on driving courses that are state-approved.
Could I just have my mother or father give me my behind-the-wheel training instead of paying money to take a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which permit you to complete your behind-the-wheel training with a parent or guardian instead of enrolling in a professional driving school.  However many states require that new drivers take a professionally-taught driver training course.  We recommend that you ask your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
I have no clue how to drive a manual-shift vehicle. What happens if Arrive Alive Driving School makes me train on a manual-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....manual OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call Arrive Alive Driving School and let them know before you sign up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.  That way you'll know for sure whether Arrive Alive Driving School can accommodate you before you pay them any money.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads everywhere. Will Arrive Alive Driving School train me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain area, chances are that a local driving school like Arrive Alive Driving School will include behind-the-wheel driver training specifically tailored to that terrain.
Are 14-year-olds permitted to obtain a instruction permit in Maryland?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the youngest age for which to hold a learner's permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school like Arrive Alive Driving School to find out what the minimum age for driving is in Maryland.
Do I have to take a Owings Maryland classroom or online drivers education course before I can sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course through Arrive Alive Driving School?
This requirement varies by state but most states do require pre-licensed drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based defensive driving course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should ask Arrive Alive Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
