Friendly Driving Academy FAQ's

Since Friendly Driving Academy appears on your website, does this mean they've been approved by the Maryland DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
The list of driving schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-approved by the Maryland DMV.  You may want to call Friendly Driving Academy directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
Do you know if I can complete my driver training with my mother or father instead of attending a driving school like Friendly Driving Academy?
Some states allow teen-agers to do their driver training with their parents instead of attending a professional driver training school.  We recommend that you contact the Maryland DMV or Friendly Driving Academy directly to find out if Maryland allows parent-taught behind-the-wheel training.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a stick-shift? Does Friendly Driving Academy have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll let me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a manual-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a manual or an automatic, you probably should call Friendly Driving Academy to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your signing up to take their driver training course.
What happens to those of us who live in a rural area? Will Friendly Driving Academy include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other bumpy terrain?
If you live in a rural location, there is a high probability that a local driver training school like Friendly Driving Academy will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular area.
Can I apply for my Maryland learner's permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the minimum age to obtain a learner's permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving instruction school like Friendly Driving Academy to learn more about the minimum age requirement in Maryland.
Do you know if the laws in Maryland require new teen-aged drivers to enroll in a driver training course in addition to a drivers education classroom or online course?
