Larry's Driving School FAQ's

Is Larry's Driving School an approved driving school in North Dakota?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer driver training courses in North Dakota.  We highly recommend that you contact Larry's Driving School directly or the North Dakota DMV to find out for sure if Larry's Driving School offers hands-on driving courses that have been approved by the State of North Dakota.
I've been told that either of my parents can supervise my behind-the-wheel training, so I don't have to attend a Dickinson North Dakota driving school like Larry's Driving School to fulfill my behind-the-wheel training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the North Dakota DMV or a state-approved driver training school like Larry's Driving School to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
I have no clue how to drive a manual-shift vehicle. What happens if Larry's Driving School makes me train on a stick-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....manual OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your hands-on driver training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call Larry's Driving School and let them know before you sign up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.  That way you'll know for certain whether Larry's Driving School will be able to accommodate you before you pay them any money.
I live in a small rural community, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my driver training with Larry's Driving School include being taught how to drive in rural areas? Or do they just offer training for city driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to know how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the behind-the-wheel training you receive from Larry's Driving School will include handling unpaved roads and mountain driving.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to get my learner's permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Larry's Driving School or the North Dakota DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in North Dakota.
Do I have to complete a Dickinson North Dakota drivers education classroom course or online course before registering for one of Larry's Driving School's behind-the-wheel training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online defensive driving course.  You may want to ask Larry's Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
I'm required to take a behind-the-wheel training course in Dickinson North Dakota. Do you know if Larry's Driving School offers driver training classes in Dickinson North Dakota?
Yes, Larry's Driving School does offer defensive driving courses in Dickinson North Dakota.  For more information about their class schedule and how/when to sign up for one of their driver training courses, please contact Larry's Driving School directly.

It depends on the particular laws of North Dakota, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  Larry's Driving School may offer courses which would fulfill the behind-the-wheel training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
What does the law in North Dakota say about driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do.  North Dakota law states that new drivers enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training course as a prerequisite to getting their first driver's license.
Will North Dakota allow me to sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course before I actually get my learner's permit?
