A Better Choice Driving School FAQ's

Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-certified by the Virginia DMV to offer driver training courses in Virginia?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently certified to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Virginia.  We suggest you contact the Virginia DMV to make sure a particular driver training school is accredited before you enroll in their driving course.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in Virginia?
Each state has its own laws regarding behind-the-wheel training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for taking a driver training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the Virginia DMV to find out for sure.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a manual-shift? Does A Better Choice Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll allow me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a manual-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a stick or an automatic, you probably should call A Better Choice Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your enrolling in their behind-the-wheel training course.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will A Better Choice Driving School be able to teach me how to drive safely on rugged terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a remote area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like A Better Choice Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and other types of rugged terrain.  You may wish to contact A Better Choice Driving School to find out exactly what their driver training course includes before signing up to take their training course.
Can I get my Virginia instruction permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the youngest age to obtain a learner's permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving instruction school like A Better Choice Driving School to learn more about the minimum age requirement in Virginia.
Can I take A Better Choice Driving School's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a Richmond Virginia drivers education classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Virginia's laws say.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a defensive driving classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Virginia's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you contact A Better Choice Driving School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
If I need to sign up to take a Richmond Virginia driver training program, can A Better Choice Driving School help?
Yes.  A Better Choice Driving School offers driving instruction in Richmond Virginia.  For more information about the type of driver training A Better Choice Driving School offers and the training schedule, you should contact them directly.
What steps do I have to take in order to get a Virginia drivers license in Richmond Virginia?
Most states require that teen-agers who are applying for their first driver's license complete both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  A Better Choice Driving School may be able to help you meet the behind-the-wheel training portion in Virginia.  Please contact A Better Choice Driving School for more information.

Is a driver training course required in Richmond Virginia for me to get a drivers license?
The law in Virginia requires that all drivers complete a driver training program as part of their driver education.  You should contact A Better Choice Driving School directly to find out about the types of courses they offer.
Can I enroll in a Virginia-approved behind-the-wheel training course even if I don't have my Virginia learners permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that mandate a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Virginia instruction permit before registering in a Virginia behind-the-wheel training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as A Better Choice Driving School and ask for more information.
