Certified Driving School FAQ's

Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-licensed by the Indiana DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Indiana?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently accredited to offer driving training courses in Indiana.  We suggest you contact the Indiana DMV to make sure a particular driver training school is licensed before you register for their driving course.
Will the Indiana DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice as a substitute to taking a driver training course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the Indiana DMV to find out if your driver training may be done by your parents in Indiana.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a stick-shift? Does Certified Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll let me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a manual-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a stick or an automatic, you probably should call Certified Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
What happens to those of us who live in a non-urban area? Will Certified Driving School include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other bumpy terrain?
If you live in a rural location, there is a high probability that a local driving school like Certified Driving School will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular locale.
I'm turning 14 in a few weeks. Can I get a learner's permit to drive in Indiana after my 14th birthday?
Most likely, no.  Most states (though not all) have laws which require that you be at least 15 or 15 1/2 before to be eligible to apply for a learner's permit.  Nevertheless, you may wish to contact the Indiana DMV office or a Indiana-certified driving school such as Certified Driving School to find out for certain what the minimum driving age is in your local area.
I live in Gary Indiana. Does the law say I have to enroll in both a drivers education classroom or online course and a behind-the-wheel training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do require that new, teen-aged drivers enroll in both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
I am looking to enroll in a Gary Indiana defensive driving course. Can Certified Driving School assist me with this?

What type of driver ed do I need before Indiana will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now require all new, young drivers to register for a drivers education classroom or online course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  Certified Driving School may be able to help you fulfill the behind-the-wheel training requirement in Indiana.  Please contact either Certified Driving School or the Indiana DMV for more information.
