Driv-Rite Driving School FAQ's

Is Driv-Rite Driving School a licensed driving school in Indiana?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer driver training courses in Indiana.  We highly recommend that you contact Driv-Rite Driving School directly or the Indiana DMV to find out for sure if Driv-Rite Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses that have been approved by the State of Indiana.
Will the Indiana DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice as a substitute to taking a driver training course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the Indiana DMV to find out if your driver training may be done by your parents in Indiana.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a stick-shift? Does Driv-Rite Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll let me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a stick-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a manual or an automatic, you probably should call Driv-Rite Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
Since I live way out in the country where driving on dirt roads and rugged terrain is the norm, will Driv-Rite Driving School be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a remote location, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as Driv-Rite Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and bumpy terrain.  We recommend that you contact Driv-Rite Driving School directly to find out exactly what they offer.
Can I get my Indiana instruction permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the minimum age to obtain a learner's permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the Indiana Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driver training school like Driv-Rite Driving School to learn more about the minimum age requirement in Indiana.
Do I have to take both a defensive driving classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course in Mishawaka Indiana to get my Indiana driver's license?
The laws vary depending on which state you live in, but most states do require that pre-licensed drivers enroll in a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  You may want to call a driving instruction company like Driv-Rite Driving School and find out if they offer either (or both) of these programs.
Indiana law says that I must enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get licensed to drive in Mishawaka Indiana. Is this something that Driv-Rite Driving School can help me with?
Yes, Driv-Rite Driving School offers the Indiana-approved driver training course.  For more information about their classes and instruction schedule, please contact Driv-Rite Driving School directly.
What type of driver ed do I need before Indiana will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now require all new, young drivers to sign up to take a safe driving classroom or online course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  Driv-Rite Driving School may be able to help you fulfill the behind-the-wheel training requirement in Indiana.  Please contact either Driv-Rite Driving School or the Indiana DMV for more information.
