Excel Driving Instruction FAQ's

Excel Driving Instruction's contact information is listed on your webpage. How can I know for sure if it is an approved behind the wheel training school in Indiana?
Even though we provide a list of driver training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is licensed by the Indiana DMV to offer driver training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact Excel Driving Instruction directly or check with the Indiana DMV to find out for sure if Excel Driving Instruction is a licensed school.
Could I just have my mother or father give me my behind-the-wheel training instead of paying money to attend a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which allow you to complete your behind-the-wheel training with a parent or guardian instead of attending a professional driving school.  However many states require that new drivers take a professionally-taught driver training course.  We recommend that you check with your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
What happens if I don't know how to drive a manual-shift vehicle? Will Excel Driving Instruction allow me to do my driver training with an automatic-shift vehicle?
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating any type of automobile--stick-shift or automatic-shift!  However, if you prefer to complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle, you should contact Excel Driving Instruction and inform them before you enroll in their driver training course.  That way you will know for certain if they will accommodate you.
I don't live anywhere near a city. There are unpaved roads and rugged terrain all around my house. How do I know if Excel Driving Instruction will train me on how to drive in a remote area like where I live and not just teach me how to drive in a town-or city-type environment?
Since Excel Driving Instruction is a local driver training company in your area, it's a safe bet that Excel Driving Instruction will be motivated (or perhaps required) to teach its local customers how to drive on rugged terrain.  If you want to make certain, however, you may want to call Excel Driving Instruction to find out exactly what's included in their driver training course before you sign up with them.
I'm turning 14 in a few weeks. Can I get a learner's permit to drive in Indiana after my 14th birthday?
Most likely, no.  Most states (though not all) have laws which require that you be at least 15 or 15 1/2 before to be eligible to apply for a learner's permit.  Nevertheless, you may wish to contact the Indiana DMV office or a Indiana-certified driving school such as Excel Driving Instruction to find out for certain what the minimum driving age is in your local area.
Can I take Excel Driving Instruction's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a Valparaiso Indiana drivers education classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Indiana's laws say.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a drivers education classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Indiana's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you contact Excel Driving Instruction directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
I am looking to sign up to take a Valparaiso Indiana defensive driving course. Can Excel Driving Instruction assist me with this?

I live in Valparaiso Indiana. What are the requirements for me to be able to get my first Indiana driver's license?

I live in Valparaiso Indiana and would like to apply for my first driver's license. Do I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course before I can be licensed?
