Smile Driving School FAQ's

Since Smile Driving School appears on your website, does this mean they are approved by the California DMV to offer driver training courses?
The list of driving schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-approved by the California DMV.  You may want to call Smile Driving School directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving supervisor in California, so taking a Artesia behind-the-wheel training course like the one Smile Driving School offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the California DMV or a licensed driver training school like Smile Driving School and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
Do you know if Smile Driving School will let me take my driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a manual-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a stick OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Smile Driving School and see if they can accommodate you before signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live in a remote area, that has a lot of dirt roads and bumpy terrain. Will Smile Driving School teach me how to drive in BOTH city AND rural environments?
If you live in a remote area, chances are very good that a local driver training school like Smile Driving School will want you to be taught how to drive safely on the local area's terrain.
Can I apply for my California instruction permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the minimum age to obtain a learner's permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving instruction school like Smile Driving School to learn more about the minimum age requirement in California.
Am I required to take a Artesia California classroom or online drivers education course before I can register for a driver training course through Smile Driving School?
This requirement varies from state to state but most states do require new teen-aged drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based driver education course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should ask Smile Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
California's DMV has told me that I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course. Do you know if Smile Driving School offers this course or not?
Smile Driving School does offer the behind-the-wheel training course that California requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses Smile Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact Smile Driving School directly.
I live in Artesia California. What requirements must I meet to be able to get my first California driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of California, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  Smile Driving School may offer courses which would meet the driver training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
What does the law in California say about driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do.  California law states that new drivers enroll in an approved driver training course as a prerequisite to getting their first driver's license.
Is it all right if I enroll in a driver training school like Smile Driving School prior to my receiving my instruction permit?
In most states, you are required to have already gotten your instruction permit before you enroll in your driver training course like the one offered by Smile Driving School.  We suggest you contact either Smile Driving School to find out more information.
