Since Cities Driving School is listed on your website, does this mean they are approved by the California DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
The list of driving schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-certified by the California DMV.  You may want to call Cities Driving School directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in California?
Each state has its own laws regarding behind-the-wheel training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for attending a driver training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the California DMV to find out for sure.
What if I don't know how to operate a stick-shift automobile? Does Cities Driving School have automatic-shift vehicles that I can drive when I do my driver training?

Do you know if the laws in California require new teen-aged drivers to take a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a driver ed classroom or online course?
The laws vary from state to state, but many states do require you to register for a driver training course with "hands-on" practice in addition to a driver ed classroom or online course.
