Eastern Driving School FAQ's

Since Eastern Driving School is listed on your website, does this mean they are approved by the California DMV to offer driver training courses?
The list of driving schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-certified by the California DMV.  You may want to call Eastern Driving School directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
Will the California DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice in place of taking a behind-the-wheel driving course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the California DMV to find out if your behind-the-wheel driving may be done by your parents in California.
I can't drive a manual-shift. Will Eastern Driving School allow me to complete my behind-the-wheel training on an automatic-shift vehicle?
We recommend that you contact Eastern Driving School and ask them if you can do your driver training using a vehicle that has an automatic shift before registering for their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live in a rural area, that has a lot of dirt roads and rugged terrain. Will Eastern Driving School teach me how to drive in BOTH city AND rural environments?
If you live in a remote area, chances are very good that a local driving school like Eastern Driving School will want you to be trained in driving specific to the local area's terrain.
Now that I'm 14, will California allow me to get a learner's permit to drive?
Not likely.  Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for a learner's permit.  We recommend that your contact the California DMV office or a California-approved driving school such as Eastern Driving School to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in California.
Can I take Eastern Driving School's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a El Monte California drivers education classroom course or online course?
It depends on what California's laws prescribe.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a defensive driving classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on California's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you contact Eastern Driving School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
I have to take a defensive driving course in El Monte California. Can I meet this requirement by signing up with Eastern Driving School?
Yes, Eastern Driving School offers defensive driving courses in El Monte California.  You will need to contact Eastern Driving School directly to get more information on the types of courses they offer and when to sign up for a class.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a California driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to complete both a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a safe driving classroom or online course.  You may wish to contact the California DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to meet in order to obtain your first driver's license.
Do I have to take a El Monte California driver training course in order to get a driver's license?
Yes.  All drivers in California must enroll in an approved driver training course in order to be licensed to operate a motor vehicle.  Please contact Eastern Driving School for information on the types of driver training courses they offer in El Monte California.
Will California allow me to register for a behind-the-wheel training course before I actually receive my instruction permit?
You will need to contact your state's DMV office to find out.  However, most states require that you receive your learner's permit before you sign up with a driver training course.
