Valpo Driving School FAQ's

Can you tell me if Valpo Driving School is a licensed driving school in Indiana?
Although Valpo Driving School is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently approved to teach behind-the-wheel training courses in Indiana.  We recommend either calling Valpo Driving School directly or the Indiana DMV to find out whether or not Valpo Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses that are state-approved.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving supervisor in Indiana, so taking a Valparaiso driving school course like the one Valpo Driving School offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the Indiana DMV or a licensed driving school like Valpo Driving School and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
What if I don't know how to operate a vehicle with a stick-shift? Does Valpo Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll allow me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a manual-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a manual or an automatic, you probably should call Valpo Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your signing up to take their driver training course.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads everywhere. Will Valpo Driving School teach me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain town, chances are that a local driving school like Valpo Driving School will include behind-the-wheel driver training specifically tailored to that terrain.
Can I apply for my Indiana learner's permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the youngest age to obtain a learner's permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the Indiana Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving instruction school like Valpo Driving School to learn more about the minimum age requirement in Indiana.
Do I have to take both a defensive driving classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course in Valparaiso Indiana to get my Indiana driver's license?
The laws vary depending on which state you live in, but most states do require that pre-licensed drivers enroll in a defensive driving classroom course and a driver training course.  You may want to call a driving instruction company like Valpo Driving School and find out if they offer either (or both) of these programs.
Indiana law says that I must enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get licensed to drive in Valparaiso Indiana. Is this something that Valpo Driving School can help me with?
Yes, Valpo Driving School offers the Indiana-approved hands-on driver training course.  For more information about their classes and instruction schedule, please contact Valpo Driving School directly.
What type of driver ed do I need before Indiana will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now mandate all new, young drivers to enroll in a safe driving classroom or online course as well as a driver training course.  Valpo Driving School may be able to help you meet the driver training requirement in Indiana.  Please contact either Valpo Driving School or the Indiana DMV for more information.
Is hands-on driver training required in Indiana in order to be licensed to operate a motor vehicle?
Absolutely.  All new drivers in Indiana must enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training course before they can get a license to independently operate a motor vehicle.
Can I enroll in a Indiana-certified behind-the-wheel training course even if I don't have my Indiana learners permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that require a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Indiana learners permit before registering in a Indiana driver training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as Valpo Driving School and ask for more information.
