Teresa's Driving School FAQ's

Can you tell me if Teresa's Driving School is a licensed driving school in Nevada?
Although Teresa's Driving School is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently approved to teach driver training courses in Nevada.  We recommend either calling Teresa's Driving School directly or the Nevada DMV to find out whether or not Teresa's Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses that are state-approved.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving instructor in Nevada, so taking a Las Vegas behind-the-wheel training course like the one Teresa's Driving School offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the Nevada DMV or a licensed driver training school like Teresa's Driving School and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
I have no clue how to drive a manual-shift vehicle. What happens if Teresa's Driving School makes me train on a manual-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....manual OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call Teresa's Driving School and let them know before you sign up to take their driver training course.  That way you'll know for certain whether Teresa's Driving School will be able to accommodate you before you pay them any money.
Since I live way out in a rural area where driving on unpaved roads and rugged terrain is the norm, will Teresa's Driving School be able to teach me how to drive in a rural environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in the country, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as Teresa's Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and bumpy terrain.  We recommend that you contact Teresa's Driving School directly to find out exactly what they offer.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to get my instruction permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Teresa's Driving School or the Nevada DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Nevada.
Can I take Teresa's Driving School's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a Las Vegas Nevada defensive driving classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Nevada's laws say.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a defensive driving classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Nevada's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you contact Teresa's Driving School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
I have to take a defensive driving course in Las Vegas Nevada. Can I meet this requirement by signing up with Teresa's Driving School?
Yes, Teresa's Driving School offers defensive driving courses in Las Vegas Nevada.  You will need to contact Teresa's Driving School directly to get more information on the types of courses they offer and when to sign up for a class.
I live in Las Vegas Nevada. What requirements must I meet to be able to get my first Nevada driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of Nevada, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course.  Teresa's Driving School may offer courses which would fulfill the driver training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
What are the laws in Nevada concerning driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do.  Nevada law states that new drivers enroll in an approved driver training course as a prerequisite to obtaining their first driver's license.
Will Nevada allow me to register for a driver training course before I actually get my learner's permit?
You will need to contact your state's DMV office to find out.  However, most states require that you obtain your instruction permit before you sign up with a behind-the-wheel training course.
