Abel Driving School FAQ's

Is Abel Driving School licensed by the California DMV to offer driver training courses?
Although we include Abel Driving School in our directory of driving schools for Los Angeles California, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not Abel Driving School is certified by the California DMV.  You should contact Abel Driving School directly and ask them if you are thinking about registering for their Los Angeles California behind-the-wheel training class.
Could I just have my mother or father teach me how to drive instead of paying money to enroll in a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which permit you to complete your behind-the-wheel training with a parent or guardian instead of enrolling in a professional driving school.  However many states require that new drivers take a professionally-taught driver training course.  We recommend that you check with your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
Do I need to tell Abel Driving School that I need to train with an automatic-shift car? I don't know how to drive a manual-shift car.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a stick-shift OR and automatic-shift vehicle!  We recommend that you ask Abel Driving School if you can complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift car before you register for their driver training course.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads everywhere. Will Abel Driving School train me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain area, chances are that a local driving instruction institute like Abel Driving School will include behind-the-wheel driver training specifically tailored to that terrain.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to obtain my learner's permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Abel Driving School or the California DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in California.
Is taking a drivers education course in a classroom or online sufficient in Los Angeles California or do I also have to take a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor?
It depends on what the California's laws require, but many states do mandate that new, young drivers to enroll in a driver training class with a professional driving instructor as well as a drivers education classroom or online course.
I have to complete a safe driving class in Los Angeles California before California will give me my driver's license. Does Abel Driving School offer this type of course?

Is hands-on driver training required in California in order to be licensed to operate a motor vehicle?

Will California allow me to sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course before I actually receive my learner's permit?
