ARS Driving School FAQ's

ARS Driving School's address and phone number is listed on your webpage. How can I know for sure if it is an approved driver training school in California?
Even though we provide a list of driver training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is licensed by the California DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact ARS Driving School directly or check with the California DMV to find out for sure if ARS Driving School is a licensed school.
Do I have to take a driver training course? Can't my parents just give me my driver training?
There are some states that do allow parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required behind-the-wheel training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for attending a professionally-taught driver training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding behind-the-wheel training.
What happens if I don't know how to drive a manual-shift vehicle? Will ARS Driving School allow me to do my behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle?
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about driving any type of car--manual-shift or automatic-shift!  However, if you prefer to complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle, you should contact ARS Driving School and inform them before you sign up to take their driver training course.  That way you will know for certain if they will accommodate you.
I don't live anywhere near a city. There are unpaved roads and bumpy terrain all around my house. How do I know if ARS Driving School will train me on how to drive in a rural area like where I live and not just teach me how to drive in a town-or city-type environment?
Since ARS Driving School is a local driver training company in your area, it's a safe bet that ARS Driving School will be motivated (or perhaps required) to teach its local customers how to drive on rugged terrain.  If you want to make certain, however, you may want to call ARS Driving School to find out exactly what's included in their behind-the-wheel training course before you sign up with them.
Are 14-year-olds allowed to obtain a instruction permit in California?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the minimum age for which to receive a learner's permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving instruction company like ARS Driving School to find out what the minimum age for driving is in California.
Do I have to take a San Jose California classroom or online drivers education course before I can register for a driver training course through ARS Driving School?
This requirement varies from state to state but most states do mandate pre-licensed drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based defensive driving course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a driver training course.  You should ask ARS Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
Does ARS Driving School provide a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that is required by the State of California? I need to register for one in order to obtain my driver license.
ARS Driving School offers hands-on driver training courses which are approved by the California DMV.  You may want to contact ARS Driving School directly for more information about their courses and how to go about registering for one.
What type of driver ed do I need before California will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now mandate all new, young drivers to complete a drivers education classroom or online course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  ARS Driving School may be able to help you fulfill the behind-the-wheel training requirement in California.  Please contact either ARS Driving School or the California DMV for more information.
Is it necessary for me to take a driver training course in order to get my first California driver's license?
Yes, it is.  All teen-aged drivers applying for their first driver's license in California are required to take a state-approved driver training course.
Am I required to receive my instruction permit in California before I am allowed to sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course like the one ARS Driving School gives its students?
Laws vary from state to state, however most states do require that you obtain a learner's permit before you can sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that ARS Driving School gives its students.
