Will the Virginia DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?

The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will AA Driving Academy be able to teach me how to drive safely on rugged terrain as well as in a city or town?

Now that I'm 14, will Virginia allow me to get a learner's permit to drive?
Not likely.  Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for a learner's permit.  We recommend that your contact the Virginia DMV office or a Virginia-approved driving school such as AA Driving Academy to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in Virginia.
Is taking a drivers education course in a classroom or online sufficient in Herndon Virginia or do I also have to register for a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor?
It depends on what the Virginia's laws require, but many states do mandate that new, young drivers to take a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor as well as a drivers education classroom or online course.
