Always First Driving Academy FAQ's

Is Always First Driving Academy certified by the Virginia DMV to offer driver training courses?
Although we include Always First Driving Academy in our directory of driving schools for Richmond Virginia, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not Always First Driving Academy is licensed by the Virginia DMV.  You should contact Always First Driving Academy directly and ask them if you are thinking about enrolling in their Richmond Virginia behind-the-wheel training class.
Could I just have my mother or father give me my behind-the-wheel training instead of paying money to enroll in a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which permit you to complete your behind-the-wheel training with a parent or guardian instead of attending a professional driving school.  However many states require that new drivers take a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you check with your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
What happens if I don't know how to operate a stick-shift vehicle? Will Always First Driving Academy allow me to do my driver training with an automatic-shift automobile?
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about driving any type of vehicle--manual-shift or automatic-shift!  However, if you prefer to complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle, you should contact Always First Driving Academy and inform them before you enroll in their driver training course.  That way you will know for certain if they will accommodate you.
I live in a very rural area, where there are mountains and a lot of unpaved roads. Do you know if Always First Driving Academy teaches students how to drive in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in urban areas?
Since you live in a remote area, a local driving school such as Always First Driving Academy will tailor your driver training to handle the conditions in your area.
I just turned 14 years old. Am I eligible to apply for my instruction permit in Virginia?
Probably not.  The minimum age requirement for holding an instruction permit in most states is 15 1/2.  You should contact the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as Always First Driving Academy to find out more information about the minimum age requirement in Virginia.
Do I have to complete a Richmond Virginia drivers education classroom course or online course before signing up to take one of Always First Driving Academy's behind-the-wheel training courses?
Each state has its own laws, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online defensive driving course.  You may want to ask Always First Driving Academy if they offer one or both programs.
