King Street Driving School FAQ's

Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-accredited by the Virginia DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Virginia?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently licensed to offer driving training courses in Virginia.  We suggest you contact the Virginia DMV to make sure a particular driver training school is accredited before you register for their driving course.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in Virginia?
Each state has its own rules regarding behind-the-wheel training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for taking a behind-the-wheel training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the Virginia DMV to find out for sure.
I have no clue how to drive a manual-shift vehicle. What happens if King Street Driving School makes me train on a stick-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....manual OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call King Street Driving School and let them know before you sign up to take their driver training course.  That way you'll know for certain whether King Street Driving School can accommodate you before you pay them any money.
I don't live anywhere near a city. There are unpaved roads and bumpy terrain all around my house. How do I know if King Street Driving School will train me on how to drive in a rural area like where I live and not just teach me how to drive in a town-or city-type environment?
Since King Street Driving School is a local driver training company in your area, it's a safe bet that King Street Driving School will be motivated (or perhaps required) to teach its local customers how to drive on bumpy terrain.  If you want to make certain, however, you may want to call King Street Driving School to find out exactly what's included in their behind-the-wheel training course before you register with them.
If I'm 14, can I get an instruction permit to drive in Virginia?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get a learner's permit.  We recommend that you contact the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as King Street Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Virginia.
Do you know if the laws in Virginia require new teen-aged drivers to register for a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a drivers education classroom or online course?
The laws vary from state to state, but many states do require you to register for a driver training course with "hands-on" practice in addition to a drivers education classroom or online course.
