Cherokee Driving School FAQ's

Since Cherokee Driving School is listed on your website, does this mean they've been approved by the Texas DMV to offer driver training courses?
The list of driver training schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-approved by the Texas DMV.  You may want to call Cherokee Driving School directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
Is it true that my mom or dad can be my driving instructor when I do my driver training instead of a professional driver training school instructor like the ones they have at Cherokee Driving School?
It depends on what your state's laws are.  You should contact the Texas DMV or a licensed driving school like Cherokee Driving School to find out if Texas allows driver training with a parent.
Do I need to tell Cherokee Driving School that I need to train with an automatic-shift automobile? I don't know how to operate a manual-shift car.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a stick-shift OR and automatic-shift automobile!  We recommend that you ask Cherokee Driving School if you can complete your driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle before you register for their driver training course.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will Cherokee Driving School be able to teach me how to drive safely on bumpy terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a remote area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like Cherokee Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and other types of bumpy terrain.  You may wish to contact Cherokee Driving School to find out exactly what their driver training course includes before signing up to take their training course.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to get my instruction permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a instruction permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as Cherokee Driving School or the Texas DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Texas.
Do I have to take a El Paso Texas classroom or online drivers education course before I can register for a behind-the-wheel training course through Cherokee Driving School?
This requirement varies by state but most states do require pre-licensed drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based driver education course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should ask Cherokee Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
I'm required to take a driver training course in El Paso Texas. Do you know if Cherokee Driving School offers defensive driving classes in El Paso Texas?
Yes, Cherokee Driving School does offer defensive driving courses in El Paso Texas.  For more information about their class schedule and how/when to sign up for one of their behind-the-wheel training courses, please contact Cherokee Driving School directly.
What type of driver ed do I need before Texas will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now mandate all new, young drivers to register for a safe driving classroom or online course as well as a driver training course.  Cherokee Driving School may be able to help you meet the driver training requirement in Texas.  Please contact either Cherokee Driving School or the Texas DMV for more information.
Is hands-on driver training required in Texas in order to be licensed to operate a motor vehicle?
Absolutely.  All new drivers in Texas must enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training course before they can be issued a license to independently drive a motor vehicle.
Can I sign up to take a Texas behind-the-wheel training course prior to having my Texas learners permit?
Most states require pre-licensed drivers to hold a instruction permit before being permitted to register for a driver training course.  You should contact a driving school like Cherokee Driving School and ask for more information.
