Ila Driving School FAQ's

Is Ila Driving School an approved driving school in Texas?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer hands-on driving courses in Texas.  We highly recommend that you contact Ila Driving School directly or the Texas DMV to find out for sure if Ila Driving School offers behind-the-wheel training courses that have been approved by the State of Texas.
Could I just have my mother or father teach me how to drive instead of paying money to take a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which allow you to do your hands-on driver training with a parent or guardian instead of attending a professional driving school.  However many states require that new drivers take a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you check with your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
What if I don't know how to drive a manual-shift automobile? Does Ila Driving School have automatic-shift vehicles that I can drive when I do my driver training?
If you're taking a Houston Texas driver training class, chances are you don't know how to drive ANY vehicle yet-- stick or automatic.  However, if you prefer an automatic vehicle then you should tell Ila Driving School that prior to registering for the course in order to make sure they can accommodate you.
I live in a small rural community, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my behind-the-wheel training with Ila Driving School include being taught how to drive in remote areas? Or do they just offer training for urban driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to be taught how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the behind-the-wheel training you receive from Ila Driving School will include handling unpaved roads and mountain driving.
I'm turning 14 in a few weeks. Can I get a learner's permit to drive in Texas after my 14th birthday?
Most likely, no.  Most states (though not all) have laws which require that you be at least 15 or 15 1/2 before to be eligible to apply for an instruction permit.  Nevertheless, you may wish to contact the Texas DMV office or a Texas-certified driving school such as Ila Driving School to find out for certain what the minimum driving age is in your local area.
Do you know if the laws in Texas require new teen-aged drivers to enroll in a driver training course in addition to a drivers education classroom or online course?
The laws vary from state to state, but many states do require you to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course with "hands-on" practice in addition to a drivers education classroom or online course.
