T & J Driving School FAQ's

T & J Driving School's address and phone number is listed on your webpage. How can I know for sure if it is a licensed behind the wheel training school in Texas?
Even though we provide a list of behind-the-wheel training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is licensed by the Texas DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact T & J Driving School directly or check with the Texas DMV to find out for sure if T & J Driving School is a licensed school.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in Texas?
Each state has its own laws regarding behind-the-wheel training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for taking a behind-the-wheel training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the Texas DMV to find out for sure.
I have no clue how to drive a manual-shift vehicle. What happens if T & J Driving School makes me train on a manual-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....manual OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call T & J Driving School and let them know before you sign up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.  That way you'll know for certain whether T & J Driving School can accommodate you before you pay them any money.
Since I live way out in the country where driving on dirt roads and bumpy terrain is the norm, will T & J Driving School be able to teach me how to drive in a non-urban environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in the country, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as T & J Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and rugged terrain.  We recommend that you contact T & J Driving School directly to find out exactly what they offer.
Are 14-year-olds allowed to apply for a instruction permit in Texas?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the youngest age for which to hold a learner's permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school like T & J Driving School to find out what the minimum age for driving is in Texas.
Is taking a drivers education course in a classroom or online sufficient in Universal City Texas or do I also have to take a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor?
It depends on what the Texas's laws require, but many states do mandate that new, young drivers to take a driver training class with a professional driving instructor as well as a drivers education classroom or online course.
Does T & J Driving School provide a hands-on driver training course like the one that is required by the State of Texas? I need to complete one in order to obtain my driver license.
T & J Driving School offers driver training courses which are approved by the Texas DMV.  You may want to contact T & J Driving School directly for more information about their courses and how to go about signing up for one.
I live in Universal City Texas. What are the requirements for me to be able to get my first Texas driver's license?
It depends on the particular laws of Texas, but most states require teen-aged first-time license applicants to successfully complete both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  T & J Driving School may offer courses which would meet the behind-the-wheel training requirement, however you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly what types of courses they offer.
Do I have to take a Universal City Texas behind-the-wheel training course in order to get a driver's license?
