Advantage Driver Training FAQ's

Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-certified by the Ohio DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Ohio?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently licensed to offer driving training courses in Ohio.  We suggest you contact the Ohio DMV to make sure a particular driver training school is licensed before you register for their driver training course.
Could I just have my mother or father give me my behind-the-wheel training instead of paying money to attend a professional driver training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which permit you to complete your behind-the-wheel training with a parent or guardian instead of enrolling in a professional driving school.  However many states require that first-time drivers take a professionally-taught driver training course.  We recommend that you check with your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
Do you know if Advantage Driver Training will let me take my behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a stick-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a manual OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact Advantage Driver Training and see if they can accommodate you before registering for their driver training course.
I live in a very rural area, where there are mountains and a lot of unpaved roads. Do you know if Advantage Driver Training offers training for driving in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in city areas?
Since you live in a rural area, a local driving school such as Advantage Driver Training will tailor your driver training to handle the conditions in your area.
Can 14-year-olds get learner's permits to drive in Ohio?
Most states have set the minimum age for applying for an instruction permit at 15 or 15 1/2.  However, some states do allow 14-year-olds to obtain an instruction permit.  You may want to contact the Ohio DMV or a Ohio-approved driver training school like Advantage Driver Training to find out what the minimum age to drive is in Ohio.
Do I have to take a Columbus Ohio classroom or online drivers education course before I can enroll in a driver training course through Advantage Driver Training?
This requirement varies by state but most states do mandate pre-licensed drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based driver education course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a driver training course.  You should ask Advantage Driver Training if they offer one or both programs.
I'm required to take a behind-the-wheel training course in Columbus Ohio. Do you know if Advantage Driver Training offers defensive driving classes in Columbus Ohio?
