Modern Driver Education FAQ's

Since Modern Driver Education is listed on your website, does this mean they are approved by the Ohio DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
The list of driving schools on our webpage is provided as a convenience to our customers only.  We CANNOT guarantee that every single school listed is fully-certified by the Ohio DMV.  You may want to call Modern Driver Education directly to find out if they offer a state-certified behind-the-wheel training course.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving supervisor in Ohio, so taking a Cleveland driver training course like the one Modern Driver Education offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the Ohio DMV or a licensed driver training school like Modern Driver Education and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
What happens if I don't know how to operate a stick-shift vehicle? Will Modern Driver Education allow me to do my behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift car?
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about driving any type of automobile--stick-shift or automatic-shift!  However, if you prefer to complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle, you should contact Modern Driver Education and let them know before you register for their behind-the-wheel training course.  That way you will know for certain if they will accommodate you.
I live in a very remote area, where there are mountains and a lot of dirt roads. Do you know if Modern Driver Education offers training for driving in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in city areas?
Since you live in a remote area, a local driving school such as Modern Driver Education will tailor your behind-the-wheel training to handle the conditions in your area.
Now that I'm 14, will Ohio allow me to get an instruction permit to drive?
Not likely.  Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for an instruction permit.  We recommend that your contact the Ohio DMV office or a Ohio-approved driving school such as Modern Driver Education to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in Ohio.
Will I be required to sign up for both a drivers education classroom or online course and a driver training course in Cleveland Ohio?
It depends on which state you live in, but many states now require new teen-aged drivers to enroll in both a drivers education course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.
If I need to sign up to take a Cleveland Ohio driver training program, can Modern Driver Education help?
Yes.  Modern Driver Education offers driving courses in Cleveland Ohio.  For more information about the type of driver training Modern Driver Education offers and the training schedule, you should contact them directly.
What type of driver ed do I need before Ohio will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now require all new, young drivers to complete a drivers education classroom or online course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  Modern Driver Education may be able to help you fulfill the driver training requirement in Ohio.  Please contact either Modern Driver Education or the Ohio DMV for more information.
Is it necessary for me to take a driver training course in order to get my first Ohio driver's license?
Yes, it is.  All teen-aged drivers applying for their first driver's license in Ohio are required to take a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.
Is it okay for me to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training class in Ohio before I receive my Ohio learners permit to drive?
Probably not.  Most states require first-time drivers to have their learners permit before they are allowed to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training program.  You should contact a driving instruction company like Modern Driver Education and request more information.
