MDSP Precision Driving FAQ's

Is MDSP Precision Driving a certified driving school in Michigan?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer hands-on driving courses in Michigan.  We highly recommend that you contact MDSP Precision Driving directly or the Michigan DMV to find out for sure if MDSP Precision Driving offers behind-the-wheel training courses that have been approved by the State of Michigan.
Could I just have my mother or father teach me how to drive instead of paying money to take a professional driver training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which allow you to do your hands-on driver training with a parent or guardian instead of enrolling in a professional driving school.  However many states require that first-time drivers take a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you check with your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
Do you know if MDSP Precision Driving will let me complete my behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a stick-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a manual OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact MDSP Precision Driving and see if they can accommodate you before registering for their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live in a small mountain community, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my driver training with MDSP Precision Driving include learning how to drive in rural areas? Or do they just offer training for urban driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to be taught how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the driver training you receive from MDSP Precision Driving will include handling dirt roads and mountain driving.
If I'm 14, can I get an instruction permit to drive in Michigan?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit.  We recommend that you contact the Michigan Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school such as MDSP Precision Driving to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Michigan.
I live in Lansing Michigan. Does the law say I have to register for both a driver ed classroom or online course and a driver training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do require that new, teen-aged drivers take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
Michigan law says that I must enroll in a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get licensed to drive in Lansing Michigan. Is this something that MDSP Precision Driving can help me with?
Yes, MDSP Precision Driving offers the Michigan-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  For more information about their classes and instruction schedule, please contact MDSP Precision Driving directly.
What do I need to do to get a driver's license in Lansing Michigan?
It depends on Michigan's laws, but most states require new, teen-aged drivers to register for a drivers education classroom course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  You may want to call MDSP Precision Driving to see if they offer the behind-the-wheel training course that would fulfill the regulations set forth by the Michigan DMV.
