Airway Driving School FAQ's

Can you tell me if Airway Driving School is a certified driving school in Connecticut?
Although Airway Driving School is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently approved to teach hands-on driving courses in Connecticut.  We recommend either calling Airway Driving School directly or the Connecticut DMV to find out whether or not Airway Driving School offers hands-on driving courses that are state-approved.
Do I have to take a driver training course? Can't my parents just give me my driver training?
There are some states that do allow parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required driver training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for attending a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding behind-the-wheel training.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a manual-shift? Does Airway Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll allow me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a stick-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a stick or an automatic, you probably should call Airway Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your enrolling in their behind-the-wheel training course.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will Airway Driving School be able to teach me how to drive safely on rugged terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a rural area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like Airway Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and other types of bumpy terrain.  You may wish to contact Airway Driving School to find out exactly what their behind-the-wheel training course includes before registering for their training course.
I'm turning 14 in a few months. Can I get a learner's permit to drive in Connecticut after my 14th birthday?
Most likely, no.  Most states (though not all) have laws which require that you be at least 15 or 15 1/2 before to be eligible to apply for an instruction permit.  Nevertheless, you may wish to contact the Connecticut DMV office or a Connecticut-certified driving school such as Airway Driving School to find out for certain what the minimum driving age is in your local area.
Do I have to complete a Shelton Connecticut drivers education classroom course or online course before enrolling in one of Airway Driving School's driver training courses?
Each state has its own laws, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a driver training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online drivers education course.  You may want to ask Airway Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
