NorTex Driving School FAQ's

Is NorTex Driving School certified by the Texas DMV to offer driver training courses?
Although we include NorTex Driving School in our directory of driving schools for Lewisville Texas, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not NorTex Driving School is licensed by the Texas DMV.  You should contact NorTex Driving School directly and ask them if you are thinking about enrolling in their Lewisville Texas driver training class.
Could I just have my mother or father teach me how to drive instead of paying money to attend a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which allow you to complete your hands-on driver training with a parent or guardian instead of attending a professional driving school.  However many states require that new drivers take a professionally-taught driver training course.  We recommend that you check with your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
I can't drive a manual-shift. Will NorTex Driving School allow me to do my behind-the-wheel training on an automatic-shift vehicle?
We recommend that you contact NorTex Driving School and ask them if you can do your behind-the-wheel training using a vehicle that has an automatic shift before registering for their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live in a rural area, that has a lot of dirt roads and rugged terrain. Will NorTex Driving School train me how to drive in BOTH city AND rural environments?
If you live in a remote area, chances are very good that a local driving school like NorTex Driving School will want you to be trained in driving specific to the local area's terrain.
I just turned 14 years old. Am I eligible to receive my instruction permit in Texas?
Probably not.  The minimum age requirement for holding an instruction permit in most states is 15 1/2.  You should contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving school such as NorTex Driving School to find out more information about the minimum age requirement in Texas.
Can I take NorTex Driving School's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a Lewisville Texas drivers education classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Texas's laws prescribe.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a defensive driving classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Texas's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you contact NorTex Driving School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
I'm required to take a driver training course in Lewisville Texas. Do you know if NorTex Driving School offers defensive driving classes in Lewisville Texas?

What are the laws in Texas concerning driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
