Around Town Driving School FAQ's

Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-licensed by the Texas DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Texas?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently accredited to offer driving training courses in Texas.  We suggest you contact the Texas DMV to make sure a particular driving school is licensed before you enroll in their driver training course.
Do I have to take a driver training course? Can't my parents just give me my behind-the-wheel training?
There are some states that do allow parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required behind-the-wheel training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for enrolling in a professionally-taught driver training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding behind-the-wheel training.
What if I don't know how to operate a stick-shift automobile? Does Around Town Driving School have automatic-shift vehicles that I can drive when I do my behind-the-wheel training?
If you're taking a Garland Texas driver training class, chances are you don't know how to drive ANY vehicle yet-- stick or automatic.  However, if you prefer an automatic vehicle then you should tell Around Town Driving School that prior to signing up to take the course in order to make sure they can accommodate you.
I live in a small mountain town, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my driver training with Around Town Driving School include being taught how to drive in rural areas? Or do they just offer training for city driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to know how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the behind-the-wheel training you receive from Around Town Driving School will include handling unpaved roads and mountain driving.
Now that I'm 14, will Texas allow me to get a learner's permit to drive?
Not likely.  Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for a learner's permit.  We recommend that your contact the Texas DMV office or a Texas-approved driving school such as Around Town Driving School to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in Texas.
Can I take Around Town Driving School's driver training course before taking a Garland Texas drivers education classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Texas's laws prescribe.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a defensive driving classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Texas's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you contact Around Town Driving School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
Texas law says that I must successfully complete a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get licensed to drive in Garland Texas. Is this something that Around Town Driving School can help me with?
