RUI FAQ's

Is RUI licensed by the Texas DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
Although we include RUI in our directory of driving schools for San Antonio Texas, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not RUI is licensed by the Texas DMV.  You should contact RUI directly and ask them if you are thinking about registering for their San Antonio Texas behind-the-wheel training class.
Will the Texas DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice as a substitute to taking a behind-the-wheel driving course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the Texas DMV to find out if your driver training may be done by your parents in Texas.
What if I don't know how to drive a stick-shift automobile? Does RUI have automatic-shift vehicles that I can drive when I do my behind-the-wheel training?
If you're taking a San Antonio Texas behind-the-wheel training class, chances are you don't know how to drive ANY vehicle yet-- stick or automatic.  However, if you prefer an automatic vehicle then you should tell RUI that prior to enrolling in the course in order to make sure they can accommodate you.
I live in a very remote area, where there are mountains and a lot of unpaved roads. Do you know if RUI offers training for driving in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in urban areas?
Since you live in a remote area, a local driving school such as RUI will tailor your driver training to handle the conditions in your area.
I'm turning 14 in a few months. Can I get a learner's permit to drive in Texas after my 14th birthday?
Most likely, no.  Most states (though not all) have laws which require that you be at least 15 or 15 1/2 before to be eligible to apply for a learner's permit.  Nevertheless, you may wish to contact the Texas DMV office or a Texas-certified driving school such as RUI to find out for certain what the minimum driving age is in your local area.
I live in San Antonio Texas. Does the law say I have to take both a drivers education classroom or online course and a behind-the-wheel training course in order to be fully-licensed here?
Each state has its own laws in regards to licensing procedures.  However, most states do require that new, teen-aged drivers take both a driver training course plus either a drivers education online course or drivers education classroom course .
