American Driving Academy FAQ's

American Driving Academy's contact information is listed on your webpage. How can I find out if it is a licensed behind the wheel training school in Colorado?
Even though we provide a list of driver training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is certified by the Colorado DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact American Driving Academy directly or check with the Colorado DMV to find out for sure if American Driving Academy is a licensed school.
Could I just have my mother or father teach me how to drive instead of paying money to take a professional behind-the-wheel training course?
It depends on which state you live in.  There are some states which allow you to complete your behind-the-wheel training with a parent or guardian instead of attending a professional driving school.  However many states require that first-time drivers take a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you ask your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
I have no clue how to drive a manual-shift vehicle. What happens if American Driving Academy makes me train on a manual-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....manual OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call American Driving Academy and let them know before you sign up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.  That way you'll know for sure whether American Driving Academy can accommodate you before you pay them any money.
I live in a rural area, that has a lot of dirt roads and rugged terrain. Will American Driving Academy teach me how to drive in BOTH city AND rural environments?
If you live in a remote area, chances are very good that a local driving school like American Driving Academy will want you to be taught how to drive safely on the local area's terrain.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to get my learner's permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a learner's permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as American Driving Academy or the Colorado DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Colorado.
Do I have to take both a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course in Aurora Colorado to get my Colorado driver's license?
The laws vary depending on which state you live in, but most states do require that pre-licensed drivers sign up to take a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  You may want to call a driving instruction company like American Driving Academy and find out if they offer either (or both) of these programs.
