Lee's Defensive Driving School FAQ's

Can you tell me if Lee's Defensive Driving School is a certified driver training school in Texas?
Although Lee's Defensive Driving School is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently approved to teach driver training courses in Texas.  We recommend either calling Lee's Defensive Driving School directly or the Texas DMV to find out whether or not Lee's Defensive Driving School offers driver training courses that are state-approved.
I've been told that either of my parents can supervise my behind-the-wheel training, so I don't have to attend a Houston Texas driving school like Lee's Defensive Driving School to fulfill my behind-the-wheel training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the Texas DMV or a state-approved driver training school like Lee's Defensive Driving School to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
Do I need to tell Lee's Defensive Driving School that I need to train with an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know how to drive a manual-shift vehicle.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a stick-shift OR and automatic-shift automobile!  We recommend that you ask Lee's Defensive Driving School if you can complete your behind-the-wheel training using an automatic-shift car before you sign up to take their driver training course.
I live in a very remote area, where there are mountains and a lot of dirt roads. Do you know if Lee's Defensive Driving School offers training for driving in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in urban areas?
Since you live in a remote area, a local driving school such as Lee's Defensive Driving School will tailor your driver training to handle the conditions in your area.  
Can I get my Texas instruction permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the minimum age to obtain an instruction permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driver training school like Lee's Defensive Driving School to learn more about the minimum age requirement in Texas.
Do I have to complete a Houston Texas drivers education classroom course or online course before enrolling in one of Lee's Defensive Driving School's driver training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online defensive driving course.  You may want to ask Lee's Defensive Driving School if they offer one or both programs.

Can I sign up to take a Texas-certified behind-the-wheel training course even if I don't have my Texas learners permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that require a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Texas instruction permit before registering in a Texas behind-the-wheel training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as Lee's Defensive Driving School and ask for more information.
