M.V.P. Driving School FAQ's

Is M.V.P. Driving School certified by the Texas DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
Although we include M.V.P. Driving School in our directory of driving schools for Houston Texas, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not M.V.P. Driving School is licensed by the Texas DMV.  You should contact M.V.P. Driving School directly and ask them if you are thinking about enrolling in their Houston Texas driver training class.
I heard that parents can fill the role of driving supervisor in Texas, so taking a Houston driver training course like the one M.V.P. Driving School offers is not necessary. Is that true?
You should contact the Texas DMV or a licensed driving school like M.V.P. Driving School and ask them.  While parent-taught driving instruction is permitted in some states, many states do NOT allow it.
What if I don't know how to operate a manual-shift automobile? Does M.V.P. Driving School have automatic-shift vehicles that I can drive when I do my behind-the-wheel training?
If you're taking a Houston Texas behind-the-wheel training class, chances are you don't know how to drive ANY vehicle yet-- stick or automatic.  However, if you prefer an automatic vehicle then you should tell M.V.P. Driving School that prior to registering for the course in order to make sure they can accommodate you.
I don't live anywhere near a city. There are unpaved roads and rugged terrain all around my house. How do I know if M.V.P. Driving School will train me on how to drive in a rural area like where I live and not just teach me how to drive in a town-or city-type environment?
Since M.V.P. Driving School is a local driver training company in your area, it's a safe bet that M.V.P. Driving School will be motivated (or perhaps required) to teach its local customers how to drive on bumpy terrain.  If you want to make certain, however, you may want to call M.V.P. Driving School to find out exactly what's included in their driver training course before you sign up with them.
Now that I'm 14, will Texas allow me to get an instruction permit to drive?
Not likely.  Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for an instruction permit.  We recommend that your contact the Texas DMV office or a Texas-approved driver training institute such as M.V.P. Driving School to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in Texas.
Can I take M.V.P. Driving School's behind-the-wheel training course before taking a Houston Texas defensive driving classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Texas's laws prescribe.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a drivers education classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Texas's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you contact M.V.P. Driving School directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
I'm required to take a driver training course in Houston Texas. Do you know if M.V.P. Driving School offers defensive driving classes in Houston Texas?
Yes, M.V.P. Driving School does offer driver training courses in Houston Texas.  For more information about their class schedule and how/when to enroll in one of their driver training courses, please contact M.V.P. Driving School directly.

Is hands-on driver training required in Texas in order to be licensed to operate a motor vehicle?
