  • In order to take this Parent Taught Driver Education (PTDE) course, your parent or legal guardian must first obtain a PTDE package. You may download it here: http://www.dps.state.ok.us/dls/pub/PTDE.pdf. Included in the package is the PTDE affadavit, which must be signed and returned to the OK DPS for processing. • Find a driver license office and schedule an appointment for the written permit exam (you may also simply show up but you may have to wait some time). You will be required to bring both your affadavit and certificate of completion.
  • Take the Learner Permit Written Exam.
  • Once you have obtained your learner permit, you may begin the 55-hour in-car driving lessons contained in the PTDE course under the supervision of your parent or guardian.
  • Once you have completed the in-car portion of the PTDE course and successfully completed the final examination, you will be issued a certificate of completion. Bring this to a DPS location to apply for your Intermediate drivers license.
